Welcome to WineDay, the electronic Gourmet Guide's daily update. Monday through Thursday, WineDay presents a wine profile. Then on Fridays we present the Winery of the Week to take you through the weekend

1995 Proprietor's Reserve Sauvignon Blanc
Appellation California Glen Ellen Winery
Glen Ellen, Sonoma County, CA

Here's a case where big is not bad. Glen Ellen certainly is big, selling something like four million cases a year. Yet, its wines are not bad. popular styles at very popular prices. This Sauvignon Blanc is a fine example.. pleasing melon and light-herb flavors... not harshly dry.. no extremes. It's my nominee for your next large-group, small-budget party.
