Wine of the Day
Richard Sanford,(pictured), made his first vintage of the winning varietal in 1980. My notes show the fourth vintage won Best of Show at a major competition; critics called it "world class." Today we're talking the 18th vintage:
1997 Sanford Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara County
When asked which Sanford Pinot vintage is best, he replies, "The next one!"
