Touchdown Pass-the-Pasta Bowl
by Kate Heyhoe
"Football is my favorite game, and I've thought about doing this all my life."
—Cher, on singing the national anthem
at Superbowl XXXIII.
While Cher prepares her 'do for her Superbowl debut, I'll be fueling up my family and sports fan friends with big bowls of saucy, steamy pasta.
One of my all-time favorite meat sauces just right for spooning over pasta in deep earthenware bowls is a rich and hearty Bolognese Sauce. Italians traditionally serve it on spaghetti, but for ease of eating while viewing, serve it on macaroni or penne. Or, for half-time feeding fun, cook up football-shaped pastas, found in gourmet and specialty stores.
Other pasta recipes, ranging from spur-of-the-moment creations to Vodka-laced sauces, are included below. And for a whole array of comforting Italian creations, check out the archives at our own Pasta, Risotto & You column by Nancy Caivano.
