This fall Time-Life continues its highly popular Williams-Sonoma collection with a new series of four books that celebrates the pleasures of the Mediterranean table. In the same spirit that launched the Healthy Collection, leading international chefs, writers, editors, photographers and designers have combined their talents to create a set of beautiful books devoted to making good cooking easy. The Williams-Sonoma Pasta Collection brings together 200 outstanding recipes showing how to expertly prepare classic and contemporary pasta and risotto dishes.
Each delicious recipe in the Williams-Sonoma Pasta Collection is accompanied by a nutritional analysis and a stunning full-color photograph of the finished dish. In keeping with a dedication to turn fine cooking into an accessible art, all the books in this series include step-by-step preparation techniques as well as detailed instructions for choosing ingredients and cooking pasta and risotto to perfection.
Pasta with Sauces celebrates stovetop pasta dishes in all their varieties and makes it astonishingly simple to serve fifty tempting versions of what may be everyone's favorite food. Linguine with Clams and Mussels and Crab and Garlic Butter over Farfalle span the gamut from traditional to contemporary, but every alluring dish is as simple to make as it is delicious to eat. Fusilli Lunghi with Shrimp and Tomatoes is a classic found in Italian restaurants the world over, and Angel Hair Pasta with Roasted Garlic Meatballs is a savory new twist on an old favorite. All of the recipes are conveniently organized into chapters by pasta shape, fresh pasta noodles and dried pastas.
Ravioli & Lasagne offers a marvelous array of irresistible filled and baked pastas. The tasty combinations of meats, cheeses, seafood, vegetables and even fruits offer the home cook a variety of fillings and sauces that elevate simple pasta to an extraordinary eating experience. Lemon Ravioli with Pumpkin Filling bursts with the festive flavors of autumn, while Wild Rice Ravioli with Walnut Butter Sauce makes a perfect first course before a holiday turkey or ham. Bolognese Lasagne is a traditional and delicious Italian classic, while Agnolotti Floating in Mushroom Broth, which can be made from ordinary wonton wrappers, is an easy-to-prepare treat that will please all of the mushroom lovers in the family.
Pasta Soups and Salads has fifty inspired solutions for elegant starters or hearty one-dish meals. With basic recipes for making stock and its easy-to-follow guidelines for buying pastas, this new book is designed to be a step-by-step tour through all aspects of preparing pasta soups and salads. Fusilli and Lamb Salad has a distinctly Greek accent, and Catalonian Rigatoni Salad brings home pasta with a taste of Spain. Pasta in Broth with Chives is a perfect first course, while Pasta, White Bean and Tomato Soup, flavored with fragrant rosemary warmed in olive oil, is a delightful variation on the Tuscan signature soup.
Risotto is not strictly pasta, but this legendary Italian rice dish presents the 7,000-year-old staple in its most glorious form. Like pasta, the plump grains of arborio rice are cooked in liquid until they are chewy and tender—"al dente" as the Italians say. All of the senses are tantalized by the aroma and robust earthiness of Porcini, Caramelized Onion and Sage Risotto. Saffron Risotto is a contemporary dish that enhances any meal, and Butternut Squash, Sage and Hazelnut Risotto is a glorious autumnal treat. When the rice simmers in lobster poaching liquid, Lobster, Basil and Shallot Risotto is a matchless tour de force.
The Williams-Sonoma collection provides the home cook with a comprehensive understanding of each food while promising meal after meal of good eating. Color transparencies of the front covers and selected interior photographs from the Williams-Sonoma Pasta Collection are available upon request.
