Cravings, Good Reading about Good Eating

As the number of cookbooks lining bookstore shelves increases, so does consumer confusion about whether to select a trendy bestseller or a time-tested classic. With exotic locations, slick visuals, and luxurious photography, the choice becomes even more complicated.

If you're hungry for a good food read but feel overwhelmed by the sheer numbers, then Cravings, Good Reading about Good Eating can lead the way down the cookbook aisle at your local bookstore. Created by freelance food writer, Marilyn Wright Ford, this straightforward site is a special treat for those with a weakness for books and a fondness for cooking.

If you're tired of drab cookbooks with little imagination, then sift through the Book Reviews where you'll probably find a review of the cookbook of your dreams.

Although the archive of reviewed books is on the lean side, each review does include a comprehensive write-up describing the contents and general flavor of the cookbook. Reviews also contain passages from the book, as well as a list of recipes that the creator of Cravings has tried and liked.

For a little extra, this site also serves up some Sweet and Sour musings on food-related topics and reader responses to everyone's favorite question, "What did you have for dinner last night?" Literary Bites also offers brief appearances by food in classic literature. When it comes to this site, you'll probably agree with Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist when he said, "Please, sir, I want some more".
