Salsa Central!

Review by Debbie Mazo

Some like it hot. Some like it spicy. Whichever way you prefer your salsa, you're bound to enjoy a visit to Salsa Central! dedicated to all things salsa-related. Hosted by the founders of Salsa Central! Inc., this site will definitely raise your salsa consciousness.

Take a walk back in time and trace salsa's roots to the Aztec civilization. Salsa in a Nutshell reports that salsa was even featured on the menu at lavish feasts prepared for Montezuma. Today, with greater awareness of cultural foods, America's favorite condiment has crossed the border and become standard fare in all kinds of culinary offerings.

Salsa Cuisine lets you experiment with a variety of sizzling recipes that use salsa as a key ingredient from Zesty Mexican Pizza to Salsa Bacon Cornbread (conspicuously missing from the selection of recipes is a collection of homemade salsa favorites).

Not sure how hot you want your dish to be? Then, link up to the Chile Heat Scale which includes several of the more common chiles and their heat levels. If you still scorch your palate, you can always reach for one of the extinguishers suggested in Put Out the Fire. How about trying some peanut butter claimed to slow the burn because of its high fat and oil content?

Salsa's magic goes beyond good taste. Hot and Healthy explores the health advantages of this fiery dip, including the benefits of the chile ingredient capsaicin said to remedy a large number of afflictions from heart attacks to the common cold. With all this good news, Salsa Central! goes a long way in confirming that salsa is truly the "Sauce of Life."
