Official French Fries Page

Review by Debbie Mazo

Long considered the ultimate in finger food, French Fries have been the subject of continuous attacks from the health community.

To debunk the myth that French Fries are bad for you and give Fries the praise they deserve, the Official French Fries Page looks at the lighter side of this much maligned side dish. Created by Web page designer M W Grossmann, this site was developed to "help people better understand what they have, for so long, taken for granted".

Declaring itself an international shrine built with love and ketchup, the French Fries Page offers everything there is to know about the French Fry with its rich history and cultural influence. From its beginnings in France around the late 1700s to the elaborate U.S. government regulations on frozen French Fry evaluation, the site is full of French Fry lore and tradition.

A favorite around the globe, the French Fries around the world section reveals that mayonnaise and a slice of lemon are favorite condiments in Japan. In the Netherlands, it's ketchup, curry sauce, garlic sauce, barbecue sauce, peanut sauce, and "mustardy" mayo. Want to know more about the international preparation of French Fries? Then introduce yourself to the unique French Canadian creation called poutine that combines cheese curds and French Fries.

Updated frequently, the Official French Fries Page also offers 21 things you never knew about French Fries (Europeans eat French Fries with a miniature fork) and 22 things to do with French Fries besides eat them (you can play "Pick-up-Sticks" with them). With all these reasons to enjoy these tasty carbohydrates, you'll have no trouble answering "yes" next time you're asked, "Would you like Fries with that?"
