Three Fat Chicks on a Diet

Review by Debbie Mazo

With so many North Americans obsessed with weight, it's not surprising that there's an abundance of web sites promising all kinds of miracle weight loss. Offering no magic pill but plenty of common sense with a hint of attitude, Three Fat Chicks on a Diet is a site you'll definitely want to bookmark.

Three Fat Chicks on a Diet is hosted by three sisters (Jennifer, Suzanne, and Amy) who have battled with weight issues for several decades. Originally designed as a weight loss support community, the site has expanded to offer recipes, tips, book reviews, and more. Not only will you find personal motivation for getting started, but all kinds of resources for staying on track along the way.

Before you begin, check out Weight Loss Info for pointers that can help launch your diet in the right direction. Just like preparing for a vacation, you need to plan your weight loss to make it successful. For the best ways to implement your plan, check out 5 Steps to Successful Weight Loss. For example, an important step is to pick a goal weight as well as small goals that you can reach along the way (a range is better than a specific weight that may be subject to change). If you like to eat out, but worry about finding an appropriate item on the menu, check out Diet Tips. Here, you'll find, among many others, tips for surviving restaurant feasts including starting your meal with a broth or vegetable soup to fill you up.

Three Fat Chicks on a Diet
For the three sisters, low fat doesn't equal low flavor. Using lighter ingredients, the recipes at Three Fat Chicks on a Diet can help you prepare gourmet dishes to impress both family members and friends. If you love pasta, but want to avoid high fat ingredients, try the Greek Lasagna. This low fat alternative still captures the comforting tastes of lasagna but uses low fat cheeses like ricotta, tofu, and feta. Dessert lovers, take heart. You can have your cake and eat it too with light choices like Blackberry Jam Cake and Mocha Pudding Cake.

Still feel tempted to bite into that chocolate brownie? Then, check in with the Message Board before you give in to temptation. Here, you'll find over 4,000 members ready to offer support through buddy systems, posted recipes, and information on the best and worst diet plans. If you've ever wondered how others feel when they diet, go ahead and ask them. With two chat rooms available (a Java and non-Java version) you can converse with others experiencing the same diet blues as you are. For even more inspiration, check out the sisters' weekly entries detailing their attempts to lose weight.

If you're really serious about shedding those extra pounds, Three Fat Chicks on a Diet lends a helping hand with support from an extensive weight loss community and winning advice to conquer the battle.
