the appetizer:

Oktoberfest started in Munich, Germany but the beer festival concept has spread throughout the world, including hundreds of events in North America, and several large Oktoberfests in South America and beyond.

Oktoberfests in North America

Beergarden crowd

German-Americans are one of the largest ethnic groups in North America. Hundreds of large and small Oktoberfest celebrations occur across the United States and Canada, with the largest usually considered to be the Oktoberfest Zinzinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Frankenmuth Oktoberfest in Michigan is reportedly the first Oktoberfest outside of Munich to have been sanctioned by the German Parliament and the City of Munich.

Featured Oktoberfest Sites

Oktoberfest-Zinzinnati is an outdoor festival held in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio that showcases the rich German heritage of Southwestern Ohio, as well as tasty samples of German-style music, food and beer. First held in 1976 the event has grown to be North America's largest Oktoberfest with over 500,000 people attending each year.

Other notable Oktoberfests include:

Oktoberfest, Fredericksburg, TX

Oktoberfest, Huntington Beach, CA

Oktoberfest, New Ulm, MN

Oktoberfest, Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada

Big List of Oktoberfest Events

Beer drinkers

Though most Oktoberfest events are street festivals, some of the 300-plus events listed below include parades, cruises or train rides, some occur in months beside the traditional September and October (several are in August), some are alcohol-free (i.e. they have no idea what Oktoberfest means), and many are sponsored by restaurants, resorts, churches, civic clubs and wineries. (Wineries? Isn't Oktoberfest about beer...?)

This list is far from complete nor do we guarantee that the links will work or that the event will actually take place. Some events may require fees, and event dates vary widely. Please confirm with the organizers before making any plans.

How to Add Your Oktoberfest Event

If you want to add your event, email us at   . Make sure you put Oktoberfest in the subject line and include a complete clickable link to your page in the body of the email. We only list links to pages that feature a recurring Oktoberfest event. Pages that are for a one-time event, or are temporary, or include a date in the URL, or link to a general page that doesn't specifically mention Oktoberfest throughout the year will NOT be listed. Inclusion is not guaranteed or automatic. Sending duplicates may result in deletion so check to make sure your event is not already listed. Corrections are always welcome.
